Organizers for the Coldest Night of the Year walk in Minto, Ontario, are currently recruiting local volunteers to help with the community fundraiser on February 28, 2026. The event raises money for the Community Resource Centre of North and Centre Wellington to support local outreach services that provide housing help, emergency food supports and other assistance for people in need.

The walk needs route marshals to help participants safely navigate the 2.5-kilometre (one loop) and 5-kilometre (two loops) routes through the community. Marshals will be stationed at key intersections to provide directions, offer encouragement, and use their phones to report any safety issues to the organizers.

This year the walk has grown into a joint effort between Minto and Mapleton to better serve the surrounding area. According to the CNOY Minto-Mapleton website, funds raised locally support outreach services that help families facing food insecurity and unstable housing.

Interested residents can register to help on the official volunteer page or visit the event page for more details and local contact information (mintomapleton@cnoy.org). Volunteer shifts typically require a commitment of about three to four hours on the night of the event (Feb. 28).
