The Miramichi Zone of the New Brunswick Senior Citizens’ Federation (NBSCF) will gather for its monthly meeting on January 27, 2026, at the Friendly Neighbours senior centre in Nelson–Miramichi. The regional meeting gives local clubs a chance to share information and coordinate on issues that affect seniors’ daily lives, including healthcare access and provincial legislation.
The session will be held at the centre on Sutton Road (26 Sutton Road), a heritage building locally known as the “White School” that now functions as a community hub for various groups. Nature NB lists the Sutton Road senior centre as a meeting place for local organizations, and area clubs are expected to send representatives to coordinate regional events; representatives from nearby Miramichi-area clubs, including Nelson, are expected to attend.
Attendees will discuss ways to help retirees manage the rising cost of living and to stay active during the winter months. Local coverage of Miramichi seniors’ activities (Giv’er Miramichi) has emphasized that these gatherings are an important way for residents to make their voices heard with government and provincial advocacy bodies. The agenda typically includes treasury reports and planning for social activities such as community dinners and 45-card game events.
The Friendly Neighbours senior facility at 26 Sutton Road is reported to be accessible, with a ramped entrance for those with mobility needs. The New Brunswick Senior Citizens’ Federation is devoted to the advancement of issues affecting all seniors aged 50 years and over, and adults 50+ are welcome to attend Miramichi Zone meetings. First-time visitors are encouraged to arrive early to register.
