The Destination Almonte Association has released its full list of community events for 2026, giving small business owners in Mississippi Mills, Ontario, a chance to plan their sales and marketing about 18 months in advance. The early announcement includes dates for the Almonte Winter Fest from February 15 to February 21, 2026, as well as the association’s recurring Night Markets and other signature events held throughout the year. According to the Destination Almonte official events page, the group has opened its vendor application portal for businesses that want to secure spots at these festivals.

This longer lead time is intended to help local shops and makers book their spots early — a move typically seen in larger cities. Council heard a delegation from Micheline Dumont and Emily Arbour of Destination Almonte on March 18, 2025, and received their report; municipal documents acknowledge DAA’s role in sponsoring and hosting downtown events. The municipality has noted that the region does not have a dedicated Chamber of Commerce or Business Improvement Area, and Destination Almonte was formed by local business owners to promote the community as a destination for visitors.

The Mississippi Mills Chamber of Commerce faces a need to map its 2026 marketing plans against the DAA calendar to avoid overlap and ensure broader municipal businesses benefit. Stakeholders, including the Chamber, have raised concerns about events being heavily centred on Mill Street and the importance of ensuring economic benefits extend to other communities in the municipality, such as Pakenham and Ramsay. The Chamber may focus on coordinating advertising and co‑marketing so local shops can make the most of crowds expected for events like the Mid‑Winter Milling (the ‘mystical market’) and seasonal street markets.
