A delivery van belonging to the Lanark County Food Bank was recovered near Mississippi Mills, Ontario, on February 16, 2026, after being stolen earlier that day. The white Ford vehicle was taken from the Carleton Place Arena and was found about five hours later following an urgent community alert.
The Lanark County OPP confirmed the van was located at approximately 1:10 PM. This recovery followed a request for the public to watch for the vehicle, which is a vital part of local food distribution for the non-profit organization.
The food bank, which also operates as The Hunger Stop, serves a 770 square kilometre area including Mississippi Mills, Carleton Place, Beckwith, and Innisville. The organization provides food assistance for more than 1,400 people every month across the region.
This specific van is used for a home delivery service for residents who do not have their own transportation or have difficulty visiting the food bank in person. Having the van back allows the organization to continue reaching those who live in rural areas and depend on these regular supplies.
