The Municipality of Mississippi Mills posted that municipal offices will close at noon on Wednesday, December 24, 2025 and remain closed through Thursday, January 1, 2026, reopening Friday, January 2, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. This routine holiday shutdown affects in‑person services at the Municipal Office (3131 Old Perth Rd), Development Services & Engineering and Recreation & Culture at Almonte Old Town Hall.
According to the municipality’s news release, “The Mississippi Mills Municipal Office will be closed for the holidays at noon on Wednesday, December 24 through Thursday, January 1,” (Municipality of Mississippi Mills news release, Dec. 12, 2025) so residents and businesses should plan around those dates for year‑end payments, permit submissions and in‑person enquiries.
During the closure the municipality says in‑person counters will be closed, but several alternatives are available. The release points residents to online and telebanking options for tax and fee payments and notes a secure mail slot at the back door for after‑hours payments and document drop‑offs: “A secure mail slot is available at the back door for payments and document drop‑offs during the closure.” Building permit packages can be emailed to building@mississippimills.ca, and the municipality’s property tax page lays out pre‑authorized and telebanking options for anyone who needs to pay while offices are shut.
For urgent municipal problems during the break, Roads and Public Works are reachable through the emergency pager at 613‑284‑1425, the release says: “For municipal emergencies, please call the Public Works emergency pager at 613‑284‑1425.” Regular programs and facility bookings through Recreation & Culture at the Almonte Old Town Hall will also be suspended until the offices reopen.
Holiday garbage and recycling collection is adjusted as well. A separate municipal post notes Christmas Day collections will shift to Friday, December 26, 2025 (and the usual Friday collection will shift to Saturday, December 27, 2025) and New Year’s Day collections will shift to Friday, January 2, 2026 (with the usual Friday collection moved to Saturday, January 3, 2026). That same post flags an incoming change to the recycling program — a new contractor, Miller Waste, will begin the enhanced recycling program starting January 1, 2026 — and reminds residents they may place a second container curbside in the week after the holiday without a bag tag.
With several year‑end deadlines and projects in progress, residents and contractors are being asked to use the online options, the secure drop slot, or email submissions to avoid delays, and to keep the Public Works pager number handy for emergencies while municipal staff are away. Offices reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026.
