Mississippi Mills posted an advisory on Dec. 8, 2025 saying curbside waste and recycling pickups will move by one day during the Christmas and New Year’s weeks, and that recycling service will switch to a new contractor with an expanded list of accepted items starting Jan. 1, 2026.

Under the holiday schedule, anything normally collected on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025 will be picked up on Friday, Dec. 26, and regular Friday routes will be pushed to Saturday, Dec. 27; the same pattern applies for New Year’s week with Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026 moving to Friday, Jan. 2 and Friday pickups shifting to Saturday, Jan. 3. The municipality also reminded residents they may put a second container at the curb—without a bag tag—during the week after each holiday. These details are in the municipal advisory posted on the Mississippi Mills website (Dec. 8, 2025).

Starting Jan. 1, 2026 the town says curbside recycling will transition to the province’s producer‑led EPR program and a new contractor, Miller Waste, has been named to handle curbside recycling; residents will be able to recycle a wider range of materials under the enhanced program. Circular Materials’ community page lists what will be accepted and current local contacts; at the moment that page lists Emterra as the contact for replacement containers and missed collections, and the municipality’s curbside page lists TOPPS Environmental for after‑hours garbage inquiries. The municipal advisory notes Miller Waste contact information will be posted soon.

The town posted the advisory on its website newsfeed; residents are encouraged to subscribe to the MM Messenger newsletter and follow the municipality’s social channels for updates. Residents are reminded of curbside rules on the municipal curbside garbage page—items must be at the curb by 7 a.m., bag tags apply outside the extra‑container weeks, and special rules may apply for small businesses. Households should check the Mississippi Mills news post and the Circular Materials community page for the updated lists of recyclable items and for the contractor contact information once it is posted.
