The Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA) is hosting a guided snowshoe social on January 10, 2026, at the Mill of Kintail Conservation Area in Mississippi Mills, Ontario. This “Beat the Blues” event is designed to help people stay active and meet their neighbours to combat the low mood that often follows the holiday season.
The two-hour outing begins at 1:00 PM and leads participants through the conservation area’s scenic woods. People will have the chance to explore the “Secret Snow Trail” and “Riverside Trail” while enjoying the fresh air and low-impact exercise.
Residents who do not own their own equipment can still take part in the walk. The Mississippi Mills Public Library (MMPL) lends snowshoes through its Library of Things program to make the activity accessible to everyone in the community.
The social gathering focuses on the benefits of “forest bathing,” which is a simple way of using time in nature to improve mental health. Organizers are using events like this to keep the Mill of Kintail as a main hub for physical and mental wellness.
According to the official Mississippi Mills event calendar, the group will meet at the Mill of Kintail Conservation Area (2854 Ramsay Concession 8). The event aims to provide a friendly environment for locals to connect during the cold winter months.
