The Mississippi Mills Youth Centre (MMYC) is holding a bottle-and-can drive throughout January 2026 to help fund its free activities for local teenagers in Mississippi Mills, Ontario. From January 5 until January 31, residents are invited to drop off empty beer, wine and liquor containers to support the centre’s programs. The official announcement was posted by the Municipality of Mississippi Mills on Jan. 7, 2026.

The collection takes place at the centre’s building at 134 Main Street East in Almonte. According to the Municipality of Mississippi Mills’ announcement, this fundraiser helps the non-profit provide a safe space and reliable services for the community’s youth.

Proceeds from the drive will go directly toward daily after-school drop-ins and the centre’s Community Meals program. These funds help MMYC offer workshops and nutritious food free (or at low cost) to youth aged 10–18 and, where applicable, their families.

While the Mississippi Mills Council recently moved to support the centre’s core operating costs — approving a five-year funding agreement (approved Oct. 2025) providing $55,500 per year — MMYC still depends on community donations to run its specific daily projects and zero‑barrier programs. Residents can bring sorted or unsorted empties to the designated bins at the centre during the month-long event.
