The Pembina Valley Humane Society (PVHS) is marking 20 years of rescue work in Morden, Manitoba, with the return of its 50/50 Pawtery Lottery. The lottery is a major cash fundraiser for the shelter and helps pay for veterinary bills, food, and staff to care for local pets.
This year’s draw is presented by Huron Window Corporation and features several ways to win. PVHS says there is a $500 Early Bird draw on February 16, 2026, a $2,000 Early Bird draw on March 16, 2026, and the final grand-prize draw on April 16, 2026.
The shelter — which grew out of volunteers fostering animals in their homes around 2004 — now needs more than $200,000 each year to operate. PVHS reported to Morden council (and local reporting) that it spends about $23,000 annually on stray animals brought in from the Morden Pound.
Community members can buy tickets online at raffle.link/pvhs or in person at the shelter, 462 Jefferson St., Morden. The funds raised support the shelter’s no-kill philosophy, meaning animals are euthanized only when they are too sick or dangerous to be adopted.
