The Many Hands Resource Centre (MHRC) in Morden, Manitoba, announced it received a gift of just over $2,000 from Morden Mennonite Church to help cover the cost of food for residents in need. The donation — announced in late 2025/early 2026 — will support winter food programs and emergency assistance as the charity faces sharply rising demand for services.

Many Hands plans to use the funds to buy essential perishables such as milk and eggs, items the organization says become more expensive in winter. Organization leaders have reported that the number of families seeking food assistance has nearly doubled over the past year; according to recent reporting, about 400 families are registered with the food bank and roughly 120 families visit each week.

“We exist because community stands behind us,” said Mariyam Tsygankova, executive director of Many Hands. The charity operates out of the 500 Stephen Street Community Centre and asks residents who want to help to consider donating fresh produce or volunteering with the Better Access to Groceries (BAG) program. Financial donations and more information are available via the Many Hands website and its Facebook page.
