The South Central Regional Library (SCRL) published its January 2026 New Book Lists on January 2, 2026, offering Morden, Manitoba residents a fresh selection of new reading material for the year. The lists include a range of new titles for both adult and juvenile readers that can be borrowed at the local branch.
Printed copies of the book lists are available at the Morden Branch (514 Stephen Street, Morden, MB R6M 1T7). For those who prefer to browse from home, SCRL hosts the lists on its website and through its digital services, including the Libby (OverDrive) app, Hoopla, and the SCRL online catalogue.
Residents can use their SCRL library cards to place holds in person, via the online catalogue, or through digital apps such as Libby. This reservation process helps patrons secure popular new releases following the branch’s building upgrades, which were completed in early 2024.
The release of the January lists follows the library system’s 60th-anniversary year (1965–2025). SCRL has grown since its founding in 1965 and now serves five communities—Altona, Manitou, Miami, Morden and Winkler—providing books, movies and digital media across the region.
In 2024 SCRL was recognized with the inaugural Human Rights Book Award for its stand against censorship. Cathy Ching, SCRL’s director of library services, said she was “shocked” by the award and that it was “about the right to read what you like,” reflecting the system’s commitment to intellectual freedom.
