Residents in Morden, Manitoba, will have a new place to shop for toys and collectibles when a Pop Culture Market opens on January 31, 2026. The initiative brings together local makers and collectors to offer a more frequent retail outlet for items like comic books and vintage memorabilia.
Organizer Trent Medynski is leading the project to give local makers and vendors a steady place to sell their goods. The initiative follows the growth of the Morden Pop Culture Expo, which has attracted growing crowds and broader regional attention in recent years (PembinaValleyOnline; Winnipeg Sun coverage of past Expos).
The launch coincides with Family Arts and Culture Day — part of Morden’s Multicultural Discovery Month organized by Regional Connections Immigrant Services. Organizers expect the timing to bring higher foot traffic and community visibility for participating vendors.
The market will feature local sellers such as Thumper Authentics (sports cards), alongside hobbyist 3D-printing creators and local makers of items such as handmade slime.
Organizers have previously used the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch #11) hall in downtown Morden for pop-culture markets and flea markets; venue details for the Jan. 31 launch are being finalized. The collective/consignment-style setup is intended to allow independent creators to share space and reach more customers without the high overhead of individual storefronts.
