Residents in Morris, Manitoba, should prepare for a significant winter storm expected to bring heavy snow and high winds to the region starting Tuesday evening, February 17, 2026. According to Environment Canada, a low-pressure system will move through southern Manitoba, causing rain to turn into snow and creating difficult travel conditions until Wednesday evening.

The storm is forecast to drop between 10 and 20 centimetres of snow, with The Weather Network reporting that wind gusts could reach 70 kilometres per hour. These high winds are expected to cause blowing snow and near-zero visibility, which may lead to road closures on Highway 75 and impact local school bus schedules and deliveries.

This weather shift follows the start of the annual ice-breaking program on the Red River, which Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure launched on February 15, 2026. The province currently lists the flood risk for the Red River as moderate, and officials are using ice-cutting equipment to help prevent ice jams as the spring melt approaches.
