Morris RCMP have arrested a 30-year-old man from Letellier, Manitoba, in connection with a stabbing at a local bar on August 2, 2026.
At around 11:30 p.m., police were called to a business on 2nd Avenue West in Letellier, where they found a 39-year-old man from Ontario with serious injuries. The victim was taken to a hospital in Winnipeg with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Two days later, on August 4, officers located Dakota Seenie walking down a street in Emerson and arrested him without incident. He has been held in custody and faces charges of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and failing to enter into recognizance.
Letellier is a small Francophone community in the Rural Municipality of Montcalm, about 15 kilometres north of the Pembina-Emerson border crossing. The area is served by the Morris RCMP detachment.
The arrest brings a resolution to a violent event in the quiet community. According to Statistics Canada, rural violent crime rates in Manitoba are more than double those in urban areas, with 4,156 incidents per 100,000 people in rural parts of the province compared to 1,932 in cities.
