Farmers in the RM of Morris, Manitoba, are convening in February 2026 for “Regen Ag Day,” a workshop to learn how to improve soil health and farm resilience. The event focuses on practical steps to keep soil productive so producers can grow better crops and better cope with extreme moisture swings such as floods and droughts.

The event is organized by the RM of Morris Council (led by Reeve Scott Siemens) in partnership with Holistic Management Canada and the Manitoba Forage & Grassland Association. It emphasizes practical measures such as planting cover crops and perennial forages, and managed grazing to build soil organic matter and improve water retention.

Reeve Scott Siemens and council organizers say the goal is to help farmers adapt to changing conditions and reduce input costs. Local producers who adopt perennial forage and related practices may also qualify for insurance premium discounts under Manitoba’s Forage Advantage pilot (announced Nov. 13, 2025), which provides AgriInsurance premium incentives for establishing perennial forages on marginal land.

The day will also present results and blueprints from ten farms selected through Holistic Management Canada’s Regenerative Accelerator project across Manitoba, giving Morris producers a chance to see regionally relevant examples — including approaches for working on the heavy clay soils common in the Red River Valley — and to connect with other local producers.
