The Rural Municipality (RM) of Morris, Manitoba, has opened the floor for residents to help decide how their tax dollars are spent in 2026. The public notice for the RM’s 2026 Financial Plan hearing was posted January 28, 2026. The hearing will review the community’s upcoming budget, which sets property tax rates and funds local services.
This meeting is the final budget review before the October 2026 municipal election. Residents are invited to attend the RM of Morris council chambers at 207 Main Street North, Morris, to hear from Reeve Scott Siemens and council about plans for road repairs and water drainage.
The new budget is expected to address rising policing costs and the upkeep of drainage infrastructure, including ditches and culverts that protect farmland. It will also reflect the impacts of the 2025 provincial property reassessment and recent provincial tax measures (for example, changes introduced in the Manitoba 2025 budget).
Community members can attend the hearing in person; the RM typically provides remote participation options — check the RM of Morris website or the official public notice for details. Anyone who wants to share their opinion but cannot attend can submit a letter or email to the office of Chief Administrative Officer Wes Unrau before the hearing begins.
