The Rural Municipality of Morris, Manitoba, will close the bridge on Road 29 for essential repairs starting Monday, March 2, 2026. This closure is necessary to ensure the bridge is safe for heavy traffic and agricultural equipment before the spring runoff begins later this month.

The repair project is expected to last for several weeks, during which the bridge will be completely blocked to all vehicles. Local residents, farmers moving machinery, and emergency services will need to use alternate routes while crews are working on the site.

According to a public notice from the municipality, school bus routes for the Red River Valley School Division may be affected, and drivers should expect longer travel times. Public Works Manager Paul Robert is overseeing the repairs as part of a larger plan to maintain local infrastructure.

The RM of Morris council approved a financial plan in late January 2026 that prioritizes these types of projects. The work follows several recent road issues in the area, including the collapse of Road 30NE, which the municipality continues to monitor for safety on its official website.
