The Rural Municipality of Morris has suspended recycling pickup for Zone 1 and closed the Lowe Farm and Rosenort landfills due to freezing rain and developing blizzard conditions that have made rural roads unsafe. The cancellation affects residents on the Zone 1 routes, and the municipality says all services are weather permitting.

MWM Environmental, the contractor handling curbside recycling, will attempt to collect Zone 1 recycling the following day, weather permitting. Residents uncertain about their zone should consult the RM of Morris garbage and recycling program (https://rmofmorris.ca/community/garbage-recycling-landfills/recycling-garbage-program/) for the latest map and pickup schedules.

The RM of Morris says both the Lowe Farm and Rosenort landfills are locked until municipal staff can confirm safe access. There are no alternate disposal sites while the landfills remain closed, so residents are advised to keep waste and recycling materials indoors or secured in covered bins to prevent wind-blown litter.

The RM reports there will be no penalties or charges for missed recycling or landfill drop-offs caused by this weather event. However, bins that exceed weight limits or are overfilled may not be collected when service resumes. The RM of Morris urges everyone to stay updated through the landfill information page and local weather reports before heading out.
