Residents in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland, can expect heavy snow and strong winds to create difficult travel conditions this afternoon, Wednesday, March 4, 2026. According to Environment Canada, the weather will shift from light snow to heavy snowfall before eventually turning into rain showers later in the evening.

Wind speeds are expected to climb to 50 km/h with gusts reaching as high as 70 km/h. These strong winds are likely to cause blowing snow in open areas, which can make it very hard for drivers to see the road clearly.

Most of the community will see around 5 cm of snow, while inland areas and higher ground could get up to 10 cm. Local road crews will be working to manage the changing conditions, and motorists are encouraged to avoid any travel that is not essential until the weather improves.
