The Miawpukek First Nation has confirmed that the 2026 Conne River Powwow will take place from June 26 to June 28, 2026, giving families in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland and Labrador, time to plan their travel for the 30th-anniversary event.
The weekend typically begins with a social night on Friday featuring food and karaoke, followed by the main ceremonies starting at 1:00 PM on both Saturday and Sunday. Since the drive from Mount Pearl takes about six to seven hours, organizers suggest travelers prepare for a long trip across the island.
Drivers will need to take the Trans-Canada Highway to Route 360, which includes a 140-kilometre stretch without any gas stations or communities. The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure also notes that repair work is planned for the Northwest Gander River Bridge along this route during the 2026 season.
On-site stay options are limited to camping for tents and trailers, and the community enforces a strict rule against alcohol and drugs on the grounds. An RV dumping station is available about 15 minutes away at Jipujij-kuei Kuespem Park. Visitors should also stay informed about fire safety through the provincial government, which recently introduced new wildfire prevention measures following a busy fire season last year.
