Environment Canada issued a special weather statement on February 16, 2026, for Mount Pearl, Newfoundland, as a significant storm system approaches the area. The alert warns of heavy snowfall and strong winds expected to impact the region from Tuesday night through Wednesday night.

Forecasters expect between 15-25 centimetres of wet, heavy snow to fall during the storm. Wind gusts are predicted to reach speeds between 60-80 kilometres per hour, which could cause power outages and broken tree branches.

The City of Mount Pearl reminds residents that the seasonal winter parking ban is currently in effect. No vehicles are allowed to park on city streets between 1:00 AM and 8:00 AM to help snowplows clear the roads safely.

Officials suggest that residents secure loose outdoor items and consider delaying travel that is not necessary. People can sign up for the Citizen Alert system to receive direct updates about changes to city services or emergency protocols.
