Residents in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland and Labrador, can learn to create their own art at a beginner Stained Glass Hearts workshop on January 29, 2026. The session, hosted by Clay Cafe Avalon, is a hands-on class focused on making stained glass hearts timed ahead of Valentine’s season.

The class is designed for people with no previous experience and uses the copper foil (Tiffany) method to assemble the glass pieces. Participants will learn how to cut glass, grind down sharp edges, apply copper foil, and use a soldering iron to join the pieces together. The studio provides tools and safety equipment on-site; attendees with sensitivities to heat or soldering fumes should inquire about ventilation.

While prices for 2026 sessions are often confirmed closer to the date, comparable stained glass workshops at the studio typically cost between $45 and $75 CAD. Because the work involves sharp glass and hot tools, the session is generally restricted to people aged 16 and older. Residents can sign up for the workshop through the Clay Cafe booking site.

Located at 961 Topsail Road, Unit D, Mount Pearl (A1N 3K1), Clay Cafe Avalon is a member of the Mount Pearl–Paradise Chamber of Commerce. The studio, originally focused on paint-your-own pottery, has expanded its winter programming and offerings in recent years to include glass fusing and canvas painting to give locals more indoor activities during the winter months.
