The East Coast Blizzard will host the Western Kings for the first two games of their playoff semi-final series this weekend at the Glacier Arena in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland and Labrador. The first game is set to begin on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 7:30 p.m., with a second game following on Sunday. The winner of this best-of-seven series will move on to the league finals to compete for a chance to play in the Atlantic Championships.

According to the Newfoundland and Labrador U18 Major Hockey League, the Blizzard earned home-ice advantage because of their high ranking at the end of the regular season. The games are expected to draw large crowds to the arena, which has enough seating for about 1,000 fans. This increase in visitors typically brings more business to local restaurants and sports bars located near the rink on Olympic Drive.

The league history shows a long-standing rivalry between these two teams, often seen as a battle between metro-based players and those from the west coast. Organizing these playoff nights requires a lot of help from community members. The Blizzard organization has said it relies on local volunteers to help with tasks like working at the entrance gates and running the broadcast booth.
