Environment Canada is forecasting between 5 and 10 centimetres of snow for Mount Pearl, Newfoundland and Labrador, on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. The snow is expected to start around noon and will likely create slippery conditions for the afternoon commute.

As the day goes on, wind speeds are expected to reach gusts of 60 kilometres per hour. By late afternoon, temperatures should rise to a high of plus 2 degrees, causing the snow to turn into a messy mix of snow and rain. This change will likely turn the snow into heavy slush, making it harder for residents to shovel their driveways and sidewalks.

The City of Mount Pearl reminds residents that the mandatory winter overnight parking ban is still in effect. Vehicles are not allowed to park on any city streets between 1:00 AM and 8:00 AM until March 31. This rule helps plow operators clear the roads safely and quickly during and after a storm.

While this storm is expected to be manageable, the region has seen much worse weather on this date in the past. On March 4 in previous years, the area once recorded as much as 50 centimetres of snow in a single day. Drivers and homeowners are encouraged to give themselves extra time for travel and to stay updated on road conditions throughout the evening.
