Neepawa Basketball Team Beats Virden 96-95 in Carberry Tournament

The Neepawa Area Collegiate varsity boys basketball team won a close game against Virden Collegiate Institute Golden Bears 96-95 in a tournament held in Carberry, Manitoba, on February 20, 2026. This victory in the consolation semifinal of the competition helped the team bounce back after an earlier loss.

The high-scoring win moved the Neepawa Area Collegiate Tigers to a record of eight wins and 11 losses for the season. The team had moved into this part of the tournament after a 79-55 loss to the Crocus Plains Plainsmen in the opening round.

According to the Basketball Manitoba scoreboard, the Tigers later played in a final game on February 21, 2026. The team ended their tournament run with a 77-71 loss against the top-ranked school from the Glenboro and Baldur area.

The host team, the Carberry Cougars, won the overall tournament championship with an 86-80 victory over the Gimli Lakers. The weekend of games gave local players and fans a chance to see high-energy competition as teams prepare for the final weeks of their season.
