Neepawa, Manitoba, residents are being asked to check their recent travel history following a new update to the provincial measles exposure list. On Jan. 27, 2026, Manitoba Health, Seniors and Long‑Term Care issued Measles Update #71 adding a site in Winkler to the list of places where the virus may have spread.
Even though the newest site is outside Neepawa, health officials are urging residents to stay alert because there is frequent travel between the Prairie Mountain and Southern Health regions, where many exposures have been reported. A CBC News report says 18 new measles cases were confirmed in Manitoba during the second week of January 2026.
The specific site added is Pathways Community Mental Health Services, 351 Main St., Winkler — exposure on Jan. 16, 2026 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. People who were at this location during the specified time are asked to monitor for symptoms until Feb. 7, 2026. Residents can view the full list of dates and times for all potential exposure sites on the official Manitoba Measles Exposure List.
Public health is encouraging everyone to check their vaccination records to make sure they are fully protected. Health officials say people born in 1970 or later who have not received two doses of an MMR vaccine (or who have never had measles) should check with their local public health office — measles vaccine is recommended and is being offered through public health. Neepawa residents can contact the Neepawa Health Unit (Prairie Mountain Health) at 485 Hospital St., Neepawa — 204‑476‑2341 — to inquire about vaccination availability.
If you start to feel sick, health officials say you should isolate at home and call a health-care provider before going to a clinic or emergency room. Measles is highly contagious, and the virus can persist in the air or on surfaces for up to two hours after an infected person leaves a space.
