Neepawa Area Collegiate is hosting the first round of the rural provincial high school basketball tournament in Neepawa, Manitoba, this week. The competition is scheduled for March 6 and 7, 2026, and features varsity boys teams from across the province.

According to the Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association, eight different schools are participating in this stage of the tournament. The home team Neepawa Tigers will compete alongside other regional teams including the Dauphin Clippers, Lorette Scorpions, and the Ste. Anne Lynx.

The visiting bracket also includes the R.D. Parker Collegiate Trojans, Virden Golden Bears, Edward Schreyer Barons, and the W.C. Miller Aces. This two-day event serves as a qualifying stage for teams looking to advance to the final provincial championships later this season.

Organizers Dan MacFarlane and Greg Jarvis are overseeing the event, which brings athletes and families from across rural Manitoba to the community. Local fans are encouraged to attend the games at the collegiate to support the Tigers and watch high-level high school basketball.
