Newmarket, Ontario’s youth hockey calendar will feature the Newmarket Christmas Cup on Dec. 27–28, 2025, at the Magna Centre (800 Mulock Dr.). The two-day tournament focuses on U10 and U11 Select divisions and will bring local and visiting teams together for round-robin play and championship finals.
Organized by the Newmarket Minor Hockey Association (NMHA), the event includes Select, House League and Local League divisions as well as a U9 MD division. NMHA’s tournament listing shows the Magna Centre as the site for all games for this event.
The 2025 Cup will include a full-ice U9 MD division under the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) Full Ice U9 pilot program. As the NMHA registration brief (EventConnect/NMHA) states: “With the extension of the OMHA Full Ice U9 pilot program, we are excited to offer U9MD tournaments at full ice this year effective Nov 1, 2025.”
Because the tournament runs over the post-Christmas period, it requires coordination between municipal arena staff and NMHA volunteers for ice resurfacing and facility staffing during a time when municipal offices may be on reduced hours. Local hotels and restaurants along the Mulock/Leslie corridor typically see an increase in business from visiting families during holiday tournaments.
Teams can register online; a $250 deposit will secure a spot and NMHA’s tournament listing notes that final payment is due Nov. 12, 2025. Entry fees are listed at $1,450 for Select teams and $1,250 for House League/Local League teams (U9 MD is also listed at $1,450). Game-by-game schedules are typically released about 7–10 days before the event (around Dec. 17), with championship matchups wrapping up the weekend’s play.
