On January 7, 2026, York Region Public Health launched an interactive Population Health Assessment dashboard in Newmarket, ON. The dashboard offers neighbourhood-level data on chronic diseases, mental health, housing and income, allowing residents, community partners and service planners to track local health trends online.
The dashboard and the Key Trends 2026 report bring together figures from Statistics Canada census data, the integrated public health information system (iPHIS) and local physician billing data from the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). It provides regular updates on infectious diseases (including COVID-19, influenza and RSV) and annual data on chronic conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and respiratory illness. The tool also maps emergency visits for self-harm and opioid-related hospitalizations.
York Region Public Health said the dashboard is intended to support health‑equity‑focused decision‑making. Regional leaders say being able to see neighbourhood-level increases in conditions such as diabetes will help set priorities for services and funding as the population grows older.
Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket is listed as a primary stakeholder and can use the tool to help anticipate surges in emergency department visits, while community groups such as United Way Greater Toronto and the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) York Region and South Simcoe Branch can target programs to neighbourhoods with higher needs. The dashboard is available in the Health Statistics and Reports section of the York Region website and will be updated regularly (infectious disease indicators quarterly or more frequently; chronic disease metrics annually).
