Environment Canada’s blowing snow advisory remains in effect for Niverville, Manitoba, as a strong cold front brings hazardous travel conditions this Friday, February 27, 2026. The alert was issued Thursday afternoon in anticipation of loose snow from earlier in the week combining with high winds to create dangerous whiteout conditions across the region.

According to PembinaValleyOnline, wind gusts are expected to reach between 60 and 80 kilometres per hour throughout the day. These powerful gusts are causing near-zero visibility, making travel difficult on open roads.

The NZP Chasers weather group reported that the most difficult driving conditions will likely occur during the Friday evening rush hour. Temperatures are also forecast to drop sharply from near 0 degrees Celsius in the morning down to -16 degrees Celsius by sunset.

Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure warns that roads like Highway 59 and Highway 311 could become very slippery as surfaces freeze quickly. Temperatures will continue to fall overnight, reaching a low of near -25 degrees Celsius by Saturday morning.
