Residents of Norway House Cree Nation in Manitoba now know who is running for local leadership following the publication of the final candidate list on January 29, 2026. The announcement formalizes the field for one Chief position and six Councillor seats and begins the official campaign period ahead of the March 10, 2026 vote.
The electoral office published the final list after the nomination meeting held on January 27, 2026, at the Norway House Multiplex Auditorium. An Electoral Office notice on January 29 said the candidate list is final and that no further additions or withdrawals will be permitted before election day. Incumbent Chief Larson Anderson has filed to run for a third term.
The community follows its own Custom Election Code, which requires a leadership vote every four years. This cycle is especially important as the incoming leadership will oversee major projects including the Kinosew Sipi Nanatawiwekamik Health Centre of Excellence and ongoing regional resource partnerships. A public Candidates Forum is scheduled for March 3, 2026, at the Multiplex Auditorium so residents can hear directly from those running.
On election day, in-person polling will be held at the Multiplex Auditorium on March 10, 2026; polls are scheduled to be open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Voters who cannot attend in person or who live away from the community can also use electronic voting through OneFeather; mail-in ballots are also being offered. The results will determine leadership for a nation of roughly 9,300 registered members for the next four-year term.
