Norway House Cree Nation in Manitoba published its 2026 election materials on January 20, 2026, posting a ‘2026 Election Documents & Resources’ package on nhcn.ca to help members prepare for the upcoming chief and council vote. The materials include nomination forms, the Notice of Nomination Meeting and voter eligibility guidance for anyone who wants to run, nominate a neighbour or check their eligibility to vote.

The general election is scheduled for March 10, 2026, when members will elect one Chief and six Councillors. The Nomination Meeting is set for January 27, 2026 (5:00–9:00 p.m.) at the Norway House Cree Nation Multiplex Auditorium, and a public candidates forum will be held on March 3, 2026 (beginning at 5:00 p.m.). Copies of the forms and guides are available on the NHCN website (members-only section) and in person at the NHCN Administration Office.

Electoral Officer Stephanie Connors—appointed by Band Council Resolution at the Regular Council Meeting on October 7, 2025—is overseeing the election process. Norway House Cree Nation is a large community with more than 8,000 registered members. On election day (polling hours 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.), electors can vote in person at the Multiplex Auditorium, cast a mail-in ballot, or vote electronically through the OneFeather platform.

NHCN operates under its Custom Election Code; the posted documents explain the specific nomination procedures, the nomination meeting steps and how to check the voters list. The Chief and Council formalized the election date and appointments through council motions and Band Council Resolutions (see the October 7, 2025 meeting for Appeal Committee appointments).
