On February 4, 2026, Service Canada mobile outreach staff arrived in Norway House, Manitoba, to provide in-person help with federal programs at the Norway House Education Centre. This one-day clinic (11:00 a.m.–2:15 p.m.) allows residents to get one-on-one assistance with official paperwork without having to make an arduous, multi‑hundred‑kilometre trip to larger centres such as Thompson or Winnipeg.
Service Canada staff are helping people update Social Insurance Numbers and apply for benefits such as Employment Insurance, the Canada Pension Plan and Old Age Security. The visit is especially helpful for elders and seasonal workers who may find it difficult to manage these applications online or over the phone.
The Norway House Cree Nation is preparing for a general election on March 10, 2026, making it an important time for residents to ensure their identification and documents are up to date. The outreach effort builds on recent community investments, including the opening of the Kinosew Sipi Nanatawiwekamik Health Centre of Excellence in August 2024.
According to Service Canada’s Scheduled Outreach policy, mobile clinics are designed to reduce access barriers for people living in remote northern communities and to provide services comparable to those available in larger centres. For those unable to attend on February 4, Service Canada has another scheduled visit on March 4, 2026 (11:00 a.m.–2:15 p.m.) to continue supporting the community.
