Junior varsity basketball players from the Helen Betty Osborne Ininiw Education Resource Centre in Norway House, Manitoba, are entering the final stage of their season as provincial championship tournaments begin on March 12, 2026. These events mark a significant milestone for northern athletes qualifying to compete against the top teams in the province.

The Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association (MHSAA) recently confirmed the schedule for the 2026 junior varsity basketball provincial championships. Both the A/AA boys and girls tournaments are set to run from March 12 to March 14, 2026. While junior varsity teams compete this week, the varsity provincial championships are scheduled to follow on March 19.

Norway House is part of the Frontier School Division, which operates the Helen Betty Osborne Ininiw Education Resource Centre. Some students from the community also attend the Frontier Collegiate Campus, a residential school located in Cranberry Portage that participates in MHSAA-sanctioned sports.

Qualifying teams are currently finalizing travel and fundraising plans to manage the significant distances to tournament locations. Local families and supporters are rallying behind the players as they complete their final practices before the championships begin.
