Man Charged With Attempted Murder Following Orangeville Stabbing

The Dufferin Ontario Provincial Police arrested and charged a 31-year-old man following a stabbing in Orangeville, Ontario, that left two people injured. The incident took place at a local home on February 13, 2026, at approximately 11:00 p.m.

Officers arrived at the residence to find two people suffering from serious injuries. One victim was quickly moved to a trauma centre in Toronto with life-threatening injuries, while the second victim was treated for minor injuries.

A resident of Trenton was taken into custody and faces charges of attempted murder, assault with a weapon, and assaulting a peace officer. One police officer also sustained minor injuries while arresting the suspect.

Police have stated that there is no ongoing threat to public safety and they believe this was an isolated event. The suspect is being held in custody while investigators continue to work at the scene.

This is the second major violent incident involving a weapon in the town since the start of the year. Residents who have information that could help the investigation are encouraged to reach out to the police.
