High school students in Orangeville, Ontario, can now sign up for a hands-on program to learn graphic design, digital media production and content-creation skills. The Career Education Council (CEC) Guelph-Wellington-Dufferin is offering the Media Lab co-op to help young people earn high school co-op credits while building a professional portfolio for future careers.

The program shifts youth career exploration toward modern creative careers such as content creation and digital marketing, expanding beyond the organization’s traditional focus on trades-based pathways. Students participate in group-based, hands-on projects that help them develop portfolio work and practical digital media skills many local employers are seeking.

The Dufferin Board of Trade is partnering with the council to connect students with local businesses for mentorship, sponsorships or co-op opportunities — helping address local needs for digital marketing and content-creation talent. This partnership gives students a chance to meet potential employers and explore work opportunities within their community.
