Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Orangeville, Ontario, warning residents that significant rainfall starting the night of March 10, 2026, could lead to flash floods and water pooling on roads. The weather agency expects between 20 and 40 mm of rain to fall through Wednesday, with even higher amounts possible in areas that experience thunderstorms.

Local officials are concerned because the ground is currently frozen or heavily soaked, leaving it with very little ability to absorb the incoming rain. This lack of drainage significantly increases the risk of water collecting on streets and flooding in low-lying areas.

In response to the forecast, the Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) has extended a flood watch for the region until Thursday, March 12, 2026. This move comes as the organization continues to monitor water levels during the seasonal spring thaw.

Residents are being told to use extra caution while driving and to keep an eye on updates from local authorities as the weather develops. The heavy downpours may cause sudden changes to road conditions throughout the middle of the week.
