The Town of Orangeville, Ontario, is accepting final nominations for its new Community Recognition Awards until Friday, February 27, 2026. This program aims to celebrate the residents who strengthen the town through volunteer work, sports, and the arts.

There are four main categories for the awards, including the Volunteer Service Awards and Citizen Achievement Awards. The Community Champion Award is for those with at least 10 years of service, while the Mayor’s Special Achievement Award is chosen by the Mayor and council members with a focus on unique contributions to the town.

Most volunteer categories require the nominee to have at least five years of service, but youth between the ages of 14 and 18 can be nominated after three years of work. Mayor Lisa Post says the awards are a way to honour people who help others feel connected and represent the idea of being rooted in the community and striving to make it better.

Residents should submit their nomination forms by Friday afternoon to ensure local leaders, athletes, and volunteers receive public recognition for their efforts. While official town documents list the deadline as 4:00 PM, other local reports suggest the cutoff is 4:30 PM, so nominators are encouraged to submit early to ensure their entry is counted.
