Drivers in Orangeville, Ontario, will need extra patience this week as road construction and repairs slow traffic on at least 11 streets, with the Broadway and Townline intersection seeing the biggest disruption.
According to the Town of Orangeville’s construction page, work runs from June 1 to 5, 2026 and covers a mix of road reconstruction, resurfacing, concrete repairs, and surface paving.
The most significant impact is at Broadway and Townline. Townline will be fully closed at the intersection, while Broadway will have lane closures for asphalt repairs. Several other streets will be restricted to local traffic only, including Andrew Avenue, two sections of Bythia Street, two stretches of Dufferin Street (Erindale to Ontario and Ontario to John), Green Street (Townline to Chisolm), Ontario Street, Steven Street, and Victoria Street.
On Broadway between Diane Drive and Blind Line, lane closures are in place for resurfacing and concrete work. Ontario Street and Victoria Street are seeing concrete repairs and surface paving, with only local traffic permitted. The work is part of the town’s summer construction push to address an infrastructure backlog. A 2025 asset management plan presentation to council found 24 per cent of Orangeville’s municipal assets are in poor or very poor condition, with an estimated $44.9 million in upgrades needed over the next decade.
The town says these projects were supported by the 2026 budget, which council adopted in December 2025 with a 1.98 per cent tax increase for town-run services. Mayor Lisa Post called the budget “the product of extensive work, months of rigorous review, thoughtful planning and deep collaboration.” Residents can find updates on the town’s construction page and are encouraged to plan alternate routes or expect delays through work zones.
