The Upper Grand District School Board approved draft calendars for the 2026-2027 school year during a meeting on February 24, 2026, helping families in Orangeville, Ontario, plan for the upcoming year. This decision sets the schedule for both elementary and high schools, including start dates, holidays, and holiday break periods.

The new schedule includes 194 school days, with seven professional activity days designated for teacher training and school work. High school students at Orangeville District Secondary School will also have 10 specific days set aside for examinations during the academic year.

Before the board voted on the plan, officials held a public survey that allowed residents to share their thoughts on the dates until February 10, 2026. The early approval is intended to help parents organize child care, work schedules, and student transportation several months before classes begin in the autumn.

While the local board has passed the calendars, they are still considered drafts until they receive final confirmation from the province. The plans will now be sent to the Ontario Ministry of Education to ensure they follow provincial rules for the required number of school days.
