A 23-year-old man from Orton was charged after the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped his vehicle in Orangeville, Ontario, late on January 20, 2026. Police say members of Dufferin OPP B Platoon located the vehicle after receiving a tip from a concerned resident about a possible drug transaction in the area of Fourth Avenue just before 10:00 p.m.
Police say a search of the vehicle turned up cocaine and fentanyl, a spring-assisted “flick” knife, brass knuckles, an imitation firearm and more than $2,000 in Canadian currency. The accused has been charged with possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a prohibited device or ammunition.
Police say the vehicle was impounded as part of the investigation. Authorities have described the stop as a targeted investigation based on the tip and have stated there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville. Police say the arrest is part of ongoing local enforcement efforts — including ‘Street Sweep’ operations — aimed at reducing illegal drugs and weapons in the area.
