Durham Region has activated its Winter Warming Plan and mobilized warming locations and supports for vulnerable residents, including seniors and children. Durham Region and local partners have opened warming centres in Oshawa, including downtown locations; residents should check the Region of Durham’s warming-centres listings or the Oshawa warming calendar for up-to-date locations and hours.
Health Canada recommends dressing in several layers with a windproof outer layer if you must go outside. Local officials also urge residents to check on older family members and neighbours to ensure their homes remain at a safe temperature during the deep freeze.
