Colborne Street West in Oshawa, Ontario, will close to through traffic on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, to allow for a large crane operation. The City of Oshawa announced that the road will be blocked off from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. between Kaiser Crescent and Centre Street North.

The closure is necessary so crews from Dalren Limited can set up a crane to lift concrete floor slabs. This work is part of the construction for a new apartment building located at 115 Colborne Street West. According to Mahogany Management, the finished building will provide 75 affordable housing units for seniors and people with disabilities.

Drivers should plan for delays as the city confirmed that even emergency vehicles will not have through access while the crane is in place. People living in the immediate area will only be able to reach their homes by entering from Centre Street North. All other traffic and delivery vehicles will need to use different routes to get around the downtown core.

This project is being built to support residents aged 59 and older, as well as those with physical needs. While the work is expected to be finished in one day, riders using the Durham Region bus service should check for potential delays near the construction site during these hours.
