As of February 25, 2026, Environment Canada has ended a special weather statement for Oshawa, Ontario, providing relief for morning commuters. The federal agency cleared all weather alerts for the area at 8:00 AM after previously warning of a significant snowfall.
The original alert issued on February 24 warned that between 5 and 10 centimetres of snow would arrive by Wednesday morning. Updated forecasts now show that the weather system has weakened, and the city can expect only light flurries and small amounts of accumulation throughout the day.
While the heavy snow did not arrive as expected, Durham Region Transit remains operational for those using public transport. Bus services may still experience some minor delays due to local road conditions, and riders are encouraged to check for any small changes to their routes.
The City of Oshawa reminds residents that they must still clear any snow or ice from sidewalks next to their property. Under local by-laws, this clearing should be completed by midnight of the first day after the snowfall has ended to ensure everyone can walk safely through the community.
