The Indigenous Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Masquerade Gala on April 23, 2026, at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights in Winnipeg, Manitoba, bringing together leaders from the business, non-profit, and government sectors.
The event raised $1,726 for the Manitoba Aboriginal Sports and Recreation Council. These funds will support programs aimed at promoting youth engagement, recreation, and community wellness throughout Indigenous communities in the province.
The evening featured a raffle with prizes including a grand prize of two flight vouchers valued at up to $5,000, sponsored by Calm Air. Additionally, a 50/50 raffle during the gala awarded more than $300 to one attendee.
The Manitoba Aboriginal Sports and Recreation Council, established in 1988, acts as the provincial sports body for Indigenous communities. The organization works to use sports and recreation as tools for empowerment, supporting the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action regarding physical activity and wellness.
The Indigenous Chamber of Commerce, founded in 2004, works to connect business leaders across the province. The organization is currently led by Board Chair Michelle Cameron, a member of Peguis First Nation and the first graduate of the Indigenous Business program at the Asper School of Business.
