Peguis Child and Family Services hosted its 4th Annual Poker Golf Tournament Fundraiser on June 30, 2026, at the Teulon Golf & Country Club in Teulon, Manitoba, drawing golfers and businesses from across the region to support local children and families.
The event brought in more than 20 sponsors, with Campfire Technology Group and Sysco as Gold Sponsors. Silver Sponsors included Wolsey Wall, Hafeez Khan Law Corporation, Chudd’s Chrysler Gimli, and Countryside Lumber. Hole Sponsors featured local businesses like B&L Trucking and Peguis Home Hardware, along with others such as Delta Hotel, All Nations Print, and Penner Oil.
Proceeds from the tournament will go toward Peguis Child and Family Services programs that serve members of Peguis First Nation, Manitoba’s largest First Nations community with about 12,045 registered members. The agency provides culturally relevant child and family services, including family enhancement and prevention-focused support aimed at keeping families together.
“Thank you to all the golfers who participated in yesterday’s golf fundraiser. Everyone had a great time and the weather turned out great,” the agency said in a statement. “We want to thank all the staff and cooks at Teulon Golf & Country Club for hosting this year’s golf fundraiser.”
Peguis Child and Family Services operates under a 2023 coordination agreement that transferred child welfare authority to Peguis First Nation, making it the first Indigenous community in Manitoba to exercise jurisdiction over its own child welfare under federal legislation. The agreement is supported by a $319 million commitment over three years.
The annual tournament reflects the agency’s ongoing effort to engage regional businesses and community partners in supporting First Nations families. This year’s event comes months after Peguis First Nation dealt with severe spring flooding in April 2026, which prompted a state of emergency and a request for military assistance.
