These activities are part of the community’s own child welfare law, the Honouring Our Children, Families and Nation Act, which began on January 21, 2022. The law allows Peguis First Nation to manage its own child and family supports based on local traditions and customs.
The agency also released separate March 2026 calendars for teenagers aged 13 to 17 and for youth living in Winnipeg. These programs are designed to provide prevention services that support families and reduce the need for children to leave their homes or community.
