The Peguis Juniors have climbed into third place in the Keystone Junior Hockey League standings after winning four games in a row. The team from Peguis, Manitoba, secured these victories against the OCN Storm and the Cross Lake Islanders to improve their position as the playoffs approach.
This winning streak allowed the Juniors to pass the NCN (Nisichawayasihk) Flames in the Keystone Junior Hockey League standings. By moving into the top three, the team is in a better position to have home-ice advantage when the Ed Albert Cup playoffs begin later this year.
The team achieved the jump in rankings by winning back-to-back series against their opponents in games played in Peguis and northern Manitoba communities, including The Pas and Cross Lake. Coaching staff credited the success to a stronger focus on the defensive zone, which helped the team contain high-scoring opponents during this four-game stretch.
This hockey season is more competitive than usual because the league returned to a seven-team format after some clubs took a break; the PBCN Selects and the Waywayseecappo Wild rejoined the KJHL for 2025–26. The Juniors have a long history of success in the community, having won eight league championships since 2013 (2013, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024).
Fans can follow the team’s progress on the Peguis Juniors social media page as they finish the final weeks of the regular season in February 2026. The team is looking to maintain this momentum to prepare for the start of the playoffs.
