Residents in Pembroke, Ontario, should prepare for high winds and a mix of rain and snow starting the evening of February 27, 2026, and lasting into the next morning. Environment Canada is forecasting a weather shift that could make roads slippery and cause travel delays for early morning commuters.

Starting around 10:00 PM on February 27, 2026, southwest winds are expected to reach 30 kilometres per hour with gusts up to 50 kilometres per hour. There is also a 40 per cent chance of rain showers or snow flurries beginning at midnight, which may create icy patches on local streets and sidewalks.

Conditions are expected to get windier between 3:00 AM and 5:00 AM on February 28, 2026. During this time, winds will shift to come from the west at 40 kilometres per hour, with gusts reaching as high as 60 kilometres per hour. These gusts are strong enough to blow snow across open roads and could potentially lead to power outages in the region.

Homeowners are encouraged to secure any loose outdoor items, such as patio furniture or garbage bins, to prevent them from being blown away. Drivers should plan for extra travel time and watch for changing conditions on Highway 17, where visibility may be reduced due to the combination of wind and precipitation.
