Fellowes High School’s website calendar shows Monday, January 5, 2026, as the first day of classes after winter break, but it also lists meetings for the Chess Club and Dungeons & Dragons Club on January 1, a statutory holiday when schools are closed.

The Jan. 1 club listings appear to be a technical anomaly: the Research Dossier notes many school content-management systems can auto-populate recurring weekly events, which can produce so-called “ghost” entries on holidays. The district-wide Renfrew County District School Board calendar confirms Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, as the first day of classes following winter break.

Winter break runs from Dec. 22, 2025, to Jan. 2, 2026, according to the RCDSB calendar. Students return on Jan. 5 to begin the final weeks of Semester 1, with final exams and provincial assessments typically planned for late January.

Families are watching bussing arrangements closely after major regional disruptions in September 2024. The Renfrew County Joint Transportation Consortium (RCJTC) posts route-status updates on its website; parents are advised to consult the consortium’s bus-status page for the latest information about specific routes and service resumptions.

Registration and sign-up for winter-term clubs are managed through the school’s online portal. The school calendar currently lists Chess and Dungeons & Dragons as Thursday clubs, but the Jan. 1 entries appear to be automated placeholders; families and students should check the school’s official website for confirmed meeting dates and any calendar updates.
